I did not choose dog grooming because it seemed like a good business idea. I chose it because dogs have been the centre of my life since I can remember, and after 15 years doing this professionally, that has never changed.
My name is Kristine. I run KK Dog Grooming from our salon at 30 Wharfside, Fenny Stratford, Bletchley, Milton Keynes. I work alone, by appointment only, with one dog at a time. Before I opened KK Dog Grooming in Bletchley, I spent years as a competitive show dog handler. I handled dogs in the ring under professional judges, presenting breeds to their specific breed standards, preparing wire coats for competition, and understanding what a judge looks for in structure, movement, and coat condition. That experience gave me a level of breed knowledge that formal grooming qualifications simply do not cover.
Alongside handling, I bred Bernese Mountain Dogs. Raising a litter from birth, socialising puppies, and preparing young dogs for their first experiences outside the home shaped how I approach puppy grooming today. Every puppy who comes through the door for their first session gets the same slow, careful introduction I gave my own dogs. Because I know exactly how much those early experiences matter.

I check your dog's coat condition, skin health, ear health, nail length, overall weight and demeanour, I look at all of it before I decide what products to use, how long the appointment will take, and whether anything needs a gentle conversation with you before we proceed. Over 15 years, I have flagged early skin conditions, developing ear infections, and dental disease that owners had not spotted. That pre-groom check is not an extra; it is part of every single visit.
After the check, the groom follows the sequence your dog's coat needs. Not a fixed assembly line, but a considered process matched to the individual dog in front of me. A Cockapoo needs different products and a different approach than a Bernese Mountain Dog or a Wire Fox Terrier. I adjust every appointment accordingly.
At collection, I give you feedback on anything I noticed during the groom, how the coat is coming in, whether anything needs monitoring, and what to watch for before the next visit. You leave knowing more about your dog's health than when you arrived.
Why I Work With One Dog at a Time
Many grooming salons run multiple dogs through in a day, sometimes kennelling dogs between stages of the groom. I do not do this.
Working with one dog at a time means your dog receives my complete attention from the moment they arrive to the moment you collect them. There is no waiting in a crate while I finish another dog. There is no background barking from dogs in other bays. There is no rushing because the next appointment is already sitting in the waiting area.
For most dogs, this just means a calmer, more pleasant experience. For anxious dogs — and there are many — it makes a genuine difference to whether grooming is something they learn to tolerate or something that traumatises them further every time.
